Price the same twelve months for both offers

Suppose offer A costs $25 for six months, then $45 for six months, with a $40 installation charge. Its first-year total is $460. Offer B costs $37 a month for twelve months, with installation included, for $444. Those figures compare the hypothetical offers over the same twelve months, before any other applicable charges.

Ask what would change the comparison

Check whether equipment rental is included, whether the price changes during the period, and what conditions apply if you leave sooner. If B also requires $3 a month for equipment, its sample total becomes $480. Avoid giving an introductory monthly price the same weight as a confirmed full-period total.

Plan the actual switch day

Also check what would happen during a change of provider. If one adult works from home, the installation date and any gap in service matter. Ask for unclear conditions in writing and keep them beside the two totals.

If the new installation is Tuesday and the old service ends Monday, the overlap or gap matters for anyone planning to work at home. Ask how the provider confirms an installation window and what to do if it moves. Record the old and new service references separately until the change is complete.
