List old and new service references separately
One example row might read “Internet, 14 Hill Road, stop August 8, equipment return pending.” A second might read “Internet, 8 Oak Street, start August 9, installation confirmed.” Keeping the addresses and references apart makes it easier to recognize a late statement for the correct account.
Treat equipment return as its own job
Ask what must be returned, by what route, and by which date. A modem, power supply and remote may not all have the same instructions. Keep the return label, package receipt, tracking number and any confirmation from the provider. A label printed at home proves preparation, not handover at the collection point.
Check the final old-address statement
If the same provider serves the new home, label the old and new references separately. Save the return receipt and final statement for the old address. A working connection in the new home does not confirm that the previous service has closed.
Match the service period, any credit, and the equipment status against your records. If the final statement refers to the new address or an unfamiliar period, ask for clarification before marking the old account closed. The move is complete for this service only when you know the result for both addresses and any equipment.
