Divide the run into completed, missing and uncertain

If a task created a packing list and then failed while adding a calendar entry, open the list and check the actual calendar. Resume from the first missing step. If you cannot tell whether an external change went through, check the external service directly before retrying. Write the intended steps in order and attach evidence to each. “Packing list exists” is completed if you can open it; “calendar event requested” may still be uncertain.

Check the destination before retrying

Open the actual calendar or household list and look for the expected record, date and owner. A search by title alone can find an older item, so compare the details. If an external service holds the authoritative record, inspect it directly or ask its operator to verify the status.

Resume only the gap

If the list exists and the event does not, request just the missing event. If you cannot establish whether it exists, pause that step and retain the time and reference needed for support. Do not describe an uncertain change as failed simply because the assistant stopped before summarizing it. If another adult also tried the action, compare both attempts before assigning someone to finish the missing step.
