Pause the goal and list its effects

If a trip is postponed, pause its planning responsibility and inspect the open tasks and reservations separately. A pause can stop future assistant work without cancelling a booking or undoing something that already happened. Keep those follow-up decisions with the person who can confirm them. Write down what the assistant was maintaining: packing list, reminders, possible travel options or calendar proposals. Each has a different status after the goal pauses.

Separate saved work from future work

A note already written remains a note. A hotel reservation made through another service has its own cancellation terms. A draft suggestion may never have left the conversation. Inspect the destination for each consequential item instead of treating the pause as an undo button. Mark disputed or uncertain external actions for personal follow-up.

Resume deliberately

Before restarting, update dates, participants and the source material. If the old goal was “plan Friday’s trip” and the new trip has no date, a fresh responsibility may be clearer than restarting stale instructions. Verify the next scheduled check so work does not resume against an abandoned calendar entry. Before resuming, verify the revised trip date with the person responsible for confirming it.
