Plan where the second driver receives the car
Add the key exchange and any necessary items to the vehicle booking. If the second driver needs the child seat, it must return with the car. A station handoff works only if the first person can get home afterward and both people can reach the agreed meeting point. Give the car a return location a person can act on, such as the west entrance rather than the name of the whole station.
Resolve a clash before booking the next ride
When two people need it, first check whether one trip ends near the other person’s starting point. A handoff at the station might solve the conflict. If the end time is uncertain, agree on a latest handoff and a separate plan for the second trip.
Agree when to release a backup ride
Suppose the first driver expects to return at eleven and the second must depart by eleven fifteen. If the appointment is still underway at ten fifty, agree whether to arrange another ride then. Be explicit about who contacts the second driver and who cancels any duplicate arrangements. A car in the driveway with the keys still in someone’s coat can be as unavailable as a car that has not returned.
