Create one notice and one coverage plan

A school closure may cover all pupils or only a particular class. Check the original notice for the date, group, and any existing care program that still runs. Put “School closed for teacher training” in the calendar for information. Then record the actual coverage separately: which adult is with the child, where, and for what hours. A person can acknowledge the closure without agreeing to cover it.

Make the handover visible in a split day

For a teacher training day when classes are closed, one adult could cover the morning and the other the afternoon. Put the changeover time and place in the plan. If the afternoon is uncovered, label the gap so it stays visible while someone looks for an arrangement.

Reopen the plan if the school corrects the notice

If the school changes a full closure to an early dismissal, do not simply shorten the closed-day banner. Morning coverage may no longer be necessary, while the afternoon collector now has to go to the school gate at a particular time. Tell the adult who arranged time off what changed. Check the replacement pickup and any outside activity individually; an updated school notice cannot accept those responsibilities for the household.
