Check collection rules before sending the substitute

Open the actual confirmation and look for wording about another person collecting. The store may require the buyer to nominate them, show identification, bring the original payment card, or present a code. Do not assume a forwarded email overrides those conditions. Give the collector the correct branch and collection window, and agree how they will handle a missing item or a different product offered in its place.

Keep the receipt and any unresolved item together

For a click-and-collect order with a short window, give the collector a number to call if an item is missing. Ask for confirmation of the collected items and keep the order open until any missing part or refund has an owner.

Close the errand according to what the store handed over

For an order containing a lamp and two bulbs, “collected” is incomplete if only the lamp arrived. Ask the collector to report the items received and whether the store issued a refund, credit, or later collection date. Whoever owns the order can then follow up with the reference. If the substitute is refused at the counter, do not send another person on the same assumptions; contact the store and confirm an accepted arrangement first.
