Check the second side
A permission form can have the signature on the front and return instructions on the back. Give the file a name that identifies the activity and year. Keep the paper until you know whether the recipient accepts the scan or needs the original. Before scanning, lay the pages in the order you want someone to read them. Check whether a line on the front points to conditions, instructions or boxes overleaf.
Open the saved file as a recipient
Zoom in on the smallest print and check names, dates and handwritten marks. Look for clipped edges, shadows over signatures and pages rotated sideways. If a file contains another person's form by mistake, make a clean file rather than covering their details with a visual annotation that might remain editable.
Close the return step
Keep the destination and deadline with the task. “Scanned” means you have a file; “submitted” means you sent it by the required method. If an original is required, note who will deliver it and what confirms receipt. Check the recipient’s instructions before discarding the paper.
