Read the old list as unfinished decisions
Separate an untouched task from a task someone started or tried. “Take donations to the center” might be untouched because nobody was free, or blocked because the center no longer opens on Saturday. Those require different changes. For each entry, ask whether its original purpose still exists and what the next person would need to complete it. Do that before transferring the same label and reminder into another week.
Reschedule only when you have a workable occasion
A missed donation drop-off might move to the next confirmed opening day. An expired invitation can be closed after notifying the host. If the same task carries over three weeks, ask what prevents progress before assigning another date that is unlikely to hold.
Close expired commitments without hiding a consequence
A missed invitation can be removed from the active calendar, but it may still need a reply to the host. A bill paid during the weekend can be closed once the right period and amount are confirmed. For genuinely open work, record the next owner, date and any remaining dependency. If the same item survives several reviews, choose a different method, obtain the missing information, or deliberately drop it. A new due date alone does not change an obstacle.
