Specify local time, date and place together
If the invitation says six on Friday in Lisbon, enter Friday at six in Lisbon’s time zone. Add the actual date, especially if the other person observes the event after midnight. A bare “18:00” written into a calendar set to the time zone of the person entering it can move the call by hours. Keep the organizer’s original time in the event description as a reference people can check.
Recheck the next occurrence when clocks change
Check again for recurring calls when clocks change. Two places can change clocks on different dates. Rather than assuming the usual difference still applies, ask one person in each location to read back the time displayed for the next actual call.
Verify arrival and departure separately for travel
A flight or train may show departure in one city’s local time and arrival in another’s. Use the date and local zone printed for each end. After saving, ask the person meeting you to read back the arrival date and time they see. When a travel notification changes the schedule, compare the new confirmation with the old one before changing a family meeting that was already recorded in destination time.
